So she cried,
because all the people
who never frowned
eventually broke down.
She hid behind the shadows
because she could not bear the light
that exposed her shameful nakedness.
Broken in body and spirit,
she raised her eyes to heaven
and screamed for retribution.
Hearing nothing and seeing no one,
she cursed the gods
for their impaired ears.
The hardest part in breaking up
was to see why it had to happen –
So she died,
because all the drugs in the world
could not save her from herself.
